Bermuda Celebrates Labor Day

From Bermuda Source:

The rain threatened for a few moments but the best it could do was to briefly cool everyone down at the 2019 Labor Day event, held at Union Square in Hamilton on Monday.

The public slowly gathered at the square to hear brief speeches from Premier David Burt, Lovita Foggo, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Government Reform and Union Representatives, Jason Hayward and Chris Furbert.

The labor march through the city was essentially the same route as Saturday’s LGBTQ Pride parade; and although there was a noticeable size difference between the labor march crowd and the pride march crowd, both events were still represented well.

The pledge made by Minister Foggo was that the current PLP Government will stand firm in its commitment to the future labor force, and that everyone will have access to a fair and decent wage.

Today’s labor march sought to drive home the message of social justice and financial equity for all Bermudians and their families.
