A 38-year-old man pleaded guilty to a sex assault charge yesterday in the Supreme Court. Jah-Rome Hill, who appeared from custody, admitted assaulting a woman in Sandys on September 6 last year.

Gazette's top story, Wednesday, July 10, 2019: 

A man stabbed to death 13 years ago was lured to his death by an ex-girlfriend, a Supreme Court trial was told yesterday. The body of Marcus Gibbings, 32, was found at an apartment at Derwent Lane, Devonshire, on October 26, 2006. Katrina Burgess and Cleveland Rogers are charged with the premeditated murder of Mr. Gibbings.

The first of four people arrested in connection with that disturbance at Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club on Wednesday night (June 26) were formally charged in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The Court of Appeal has found that the Director of the Department of Public Prosecutions correctly handled allegations of gross misconduct by one of his deputies. In a decision handed down on Friday, the court found that Larry Mussenden, the DPP, did not have an apparent bias in the case of allegations made against Cindy Clarke, the Deputy DPP.

From Barbados Today:

Convicted attorney Vonda Minerva Pile today stood in the dock of the No. 5 Supreme Court with no visible emotion as she was sent to HMP Dodds until July 16. Some of her colleagues at the Bar, however could be seen wiping tears from their eyes as Pile continued to maintain her innocence.

The remand order was handed down despite two submissions for Pile to remain on bail and moments after she was found guilty on a majority verdict of stealing US$96,008.22 (BDS$191,416. 39) from former client Anstey King.

“. . . At no time have I ever or at anytime been guilty of dishonesty or theft,” the 27-year practicing attorney maintained.
